Tips for Choosing a Topic

If You are Attempting this Week’s Make Money – Read This

Choosing a topic is something that you can agonize over for hours.

Today we’re going to take a look at some tips that can get you up and running in under an hour.

1.  Choose something that you have some interest in.  If you hate sushi, the thought of writing 10 articles on the topic may make you feel a little “green” – that means you’re going to avoid it!

2.  Remember you don’t have to be an expert on the topic, with the Internet for research, you’ll probably find more information than you need to write your article.

Example Time:  I write anywhere from 10-20 articles a week on business topics.  Writing 10 more isn’t going to be any more fun for me than it is for you!  So to give myself a break, I’m combining an interest I have that I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time on:  Gardening.

It doesn’t matter what topic you choose from trains to felines to fashion, the goal is to pick a general topic that you can write 10 articles about.

3. Search Keywords for Sub-topics, Each Subtopic will be an article.  To find a list of keywords you can use the Google Adsense Keyword Tool.  Click Here!

Select the descriptive word or phrases button, enter the general topic in the middle section, enter the test word and click Get Keyword Ideas.  There are two sections of keywords to choose from all related to your general topic.

4.  Use your imagination.  Pick 10 sub-topics that you are interested in writing an article about – don’t be afraid to pick sub-topics that aren’t on the list, these are you articles!

5.  Use the Internet for a resource, but be careful that you are not just copying someone else’s article, you want to find your own take on each sub-topic.

Example:  My first sub-topic is Vegetable Garden.  To make it my article, My title is “Your Vegetable Garden a Family Activity” and I am including information that will make it a family-friendly activity.

6.  Plan Your Article before you write.  List out important facts that you don’t want to leave out and any special information that will make the article uniquely your own.

7.  Write your article.  Most articles average between 350 – 700 words your first or “rough” draft should be an outpouring of what you want to say organized into paragraphs.  Refine it in the second draft, correcting spelling and style errors – the first draft is to get the words out.

8.  Formatting for an article is usually up to the writer, but her are some general tips:

  • Center Your Title
  • Don’t Indent for paragraphs
  • Single space with an extra return (enter) at the end of each paragraph
  • Use Headers and bullet points to draw your reader to important information.
  • Don’t enter a byline if you are going to use the article as PLR
  • Type font size should be 12 and in a readable font (I suggest Arial, Verdana or Georgia)

9. One last tip learned from harsh experience – Save Your Document Often!  Power surges, spilled coffee and kicked cords can result in the loss of an entire document if you don’t take the time to save it.

Keep on Writing until you have all 10 articles and you have your First PLR pack ready to go!

Make Money Idea #3

Are you still with me?

So far we’ve broken down two methods of making money on the internet with no cost to you.

Today we’re going to look at another one.

*Disclaimer – I can’t guarantee that you will make money or if you do how much it will be.  Individual results will vary, but since this  advice has no cost and there will be no cost involved with using it, you can try it if you like!

Create PLR Packages

What you need:  A computer with a word program, notepad or .pdf document creator.  An online payment processor (paypal or e-gold, etc.)  A web page creator either W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (What You See Is What You Get) or a HTML editor will work.  A website to upload your product and sales page to.  An auto-responder to capture lead contact information (to keep this no cost, you can sign-up for one free at: www.freeautobot.com

Step 1:  Select a Topic – This can be just about anything, but limit yourself to just one topic.  Example: Gardening, Dieting, etc.)
Step 2: Write 10 articles on this topic.  (The Internet is a great resource for researching your topic.)

Step 3: Bundle them together in a folder.

Step 4: Add a document explaining that all rights are conferred to the purchaser (You can get an idea of what rights to include by downloading a free PLR package – don’t just take theirs, write up your own and save it so you can use it again on future PLR packages.)

Step 5: Compress the folder in a .zip format.  (Winzip has a free 30 day trial that will allow you to download and use their software.)

Step 6: Upload the .zip folder to your website.  (Write down the URL for later use.)

**The next step is deciding what to do with your content.  You can (a) sell it or (b) offer it as a free download in exchange for contact information (to build your mailing list) or (C) both.  It is your choice, but you need to know what option you are going to use before going to step 7.

Step 7: Create a web page to either sell or give away your product.

(a) if you are selling the product, you will need to create a payment button through a payment processor, such as paypal or e-gold.  Remember to enter the URL of the .zip folder as the payment completed redirect page for instant download.  Add the payment button to the web page at the bottom of your sales copy.

(b)if you are giving the product away, add an auto-responder sign-up box to your web page below your sales copy (You still need to list out the benefits that the viewer will receive to get them to complete the sign-up process, you still need to convince your viewer to take action.

(c) if you want to sell your product and capture lead information, place an auto-responder sign-up box on the page (top right corner of the page gets the best results) and the payment button at the bottom of the sales copy.  Have an offer to give viewers a reason to sign-up for your mailing list (an e-mail training course or newsletter – something that will make it worth their time to give you their information).

Step #8: Upload the completed web page to your web site. (Write down the URL for the next step.)

Step #9:  Direct Traffic to your web page.

  • Traffic Exchanges  (Need a List?  Here are our favorites!)
  • Write an Article and have the URL in the author’s resource box.
  • Put the URL in your e-mail and forum signatures.
  • Send the URL as a special offer to your list.
  • Have friends send the URL to their list.

Step #10:  Rinse and Repeat.

Making money doesn’t have to be difficult.

If you write 10 articles on 10 different topics then you can create a hub page with links to each separate offer and just send traffic to one page and let your visitors choose which offers they want to make. (For this you may want to change the payment option to a shopping cart rather than a payment button as it will allow your customers to make purchases throughout your site instead of limiting them to individual item purchases.

Today we’re going to look at another method that you can use and break it down into steps.

*Disclaimer – I can’t guarantee that you will make money or if you do how much it will be.  Individual results will vary, but since this  advice has no cost and there will be no cost involved with using it, you can try it if you like!

Become a Digital Photographer

You will need a digital camera and the ability to upload your pictures.

Step 1:  Using Google.com search for stock photo companies and sign up, this is usually free and you are considered a free-lance photographer.  Read the terms and conditions to select the one that best fits your needs.  (Some pay on a commission basis – i.e. each time your photo is downloaded and other’s pay a flat fee for each accepted submission.)

Step 2:  With your digital camera, start taking pictures.  Avoid photographing people’s faces unless you have a signed model’s release.

Step 3:  Submit/Upload your photographs to the stock photo company’s site and get paid.

You control your future, how much or how little you profit will depend on you!

Make Money Idea #1

Making Money On the Internet isn’t hard – but it is work!

I saw a list the other day that showed 101 ways to make money on-line.

What a great idea, I thought to myself, too bad they didn’t explain what to do with those ideas.

Hmmm…that got me thinking.  One thing that frustrated me the most when I was starting out as a marketer was the lack of actual instructions.

You know what I mean…do this…then do that.

Today we are going to take an idea and put it into a set of step-by-step instructions.

*Disclaimer – I can’t guarantee that you will make money or if you do how much it will be.  Individual results will vary, but since this  advice has no cost and there will be no cost involved with using it, you can try it if you like!

 Sell an E-Book

You will need a paypal account or some method of collecting payments, the ability to make a web page and a web host to upload the completed page to.

Step #1:  Obtain resale rights to an e-book and upload to your website in .zip format. (Add the URL to a notepad document so you can reference it for step #2)

(You can get a free Bronze membership here: Resale Rights Kingdom )

Step #2:  Set up your payment button with your payment processor (set the URL of the book as the payment completed redirect page so that it automatically downloads once payment has been received) and save the html code to a notepad document to use later.  When you set your price, take a moment to Google the book title to see how much others are charging for it.  Remember not to undersell by too much or you will limit your ability to make a profit.  It may be easier to make 10 – $1 sales, but making 3-$5 sales makes you more money.

Step #3:  Create your Landing Page.  (This is where you will direct visitors when you begin traffic generation in a later step.)

Your Landing page needs at least these elements:

  •  Solid Colored Background
  • White text area (Centered) – write your sales letter telling your visitors what this e-book will do for them here.
  • A picture of the e-book cover (People want to see what they are buying.)
  • If you have an auto-responder include the HTML for a sign-up box to capture leads! (Start Building your list as soon as possible.)
  • Your Payment button.

Step #4:  Upload the finished page to your website and test all of the links including your payment button and auto-responder sign-up.

Step #5:  Send traffic to your Landing Page.   There are dozens of free methods of traffic generation you can use when you are first starting out.  Here are a few you can try:

  • Traffic Exchanges – You view other people’s ads in exchange for credits that you can use to show your ad.  (You can find a list of Traffic Exchanges to sign-up for free here: Traffic List )  Once you are signed up, enter the URL of your Landing page as your page and earn credits to have it shown.
  • Write articles related to your topic and submit them to article directories.  In the Author’s resource box, include a URL link to your landing page.
  • Join a Forum related to the topic of the book and set your signature to include a link to your Landing page.  Each time you respond to another forum member’s post, your signature will be an advertisement for your product.  **Note, don’t abuse the forum, only post useful information or you risk being banned.
  • If you already have a list, no matter how small, send an e-mail with a link to your landing page.  This is a valuable offer and you will want to share it with your list members.
  • Consider a joint venture with a friend who already has a list – offer them a free copy of the book in return for sending 1 e-mail to all of their members!
  • Consider a Safe-list for sending a solo-advertisement.  Similar to a traffic exchange, you view other member’s e-mails to earn credits that allow you to e-mail a random members with your own e-mail.  (We recommend: List Joe - it is free and you get credits just for signing up so you can send your first message right away! You can also send your message once a week up to 2500 e-mails with the free membership.)
  • If you have a blog – make a post with the URL of your Landing Page for your readers.

Step #6: Once you make a sale, follow up with each customer to ensure that they have received their product.  If for some reason, they do not, you can provide the URL to download the e-book in your e-mail.  (Be proactive.  If the payment is being accepted but the customer is not being redirected to the download, you may have to re-create your payment button by re-doing step #3.)

Making Money is a numbers game – the more people who see your ad, the more likely you are to make a sale.

Step #7:  Rinse and Repeat.  Don’t Stop with Just 1, find your next product and start the process over again and keep the traffic coming.

Lights…Camera…Action

Do You Know what is Holding Your Business Back?

Less than 10% of businesses last 5 Years!  There’s a frightening fact from the Small Business Administration.  Many fail long before then.

Are you a new business owner?  Do you have a vision?

What are you doing to make it come true?

Lack of Action keeps many small businesses small!

If you have a plan, don’t let fear of either failure or success hold you back.  Believe it or not it is fear that holds many people back from achieving their goals.  Human beings like to be in their comfort zone.  Leaving it makes them feel scared and vulnerable.

It is easier to dream about success than it is to make it happen.

We can all describe our dream car or home or vacation, but how many people can actually sit down and map out a plan to make them a reality?

If you want your business to succeed, you have to make it happen.  One step at a time, until the success you desire is yours.

Every day you should do something that will move your business one step closer to your ultimate goal.

If you have an idea – don’t talk about it…put it into action.

So what if some of your ideas fail?  You’ve learned something just by the efforts you put into it.  Take what you learned and move on to the next idea.

Take Action…be the leader of the pack, not a member of the pack!

To Automate or Not to Automate…

Coins

The question that Internet Businesses must answer.

How and when should you automate your business?

Every business is different and the need to automate simple tasks will vary depending on your business needs.  You can take payments 24 hours a day, track and measure your business statistics, build a mailing list and deliver content with the push of a button.

These three tools can simplify a business owner’s day.

E-mail Auto-responders

Tracking software

Payment Processors

The Auto-responder is a tool that many Internet Marketers rely upon.  Not only can you capture your visitor contact information by adding a small script to your web page, you can also set it up to send out messages at a pre-determined time.  Affiliate Funnels, E-mail courses and E-zines become a snap when you are able to contact the entire group by only writing your copy once.

The con to this type of automation is that it removes the human element from the equation.  In a recent online transaction, I sent 7 e-mails to an automated support line and received 0 replies from a human being.  (Needless to say, I requested a refund.)

Tracking Software is a great way to monitor the traffic and opt-in statistics from your website.  This allows the business owner to make changes to their site with an eye to improving their results.  Small changes like the design of a web button or the color of a background can impact a web site’s performance and tracking will determine what works best for each company.  Some software tracks results on an hourly basis, making improvements very time effective.

Payment Processors allow your visitors to make a purchase whether, you, the business owner are online or not.  The Internet never closes, it is 24/7/365.  Some digital products and e-books can be downloaded immediately with no human interaction at all.

The con to this type of automation is that most payment processors charge a fee.  This can be a percentage or a set amount.  Each sale that is made is reduced by the amount of the associated fees.

Automation can free up a business owner to manage their business.

Like all tools, they are only as good as the use to which they are put.  Use your tools to build your business not as a wall to keep your customers away!
