Tips for Choosing a Topic

If You are Attempting this Week’s Make Money – Read This

Choosing a topic is something that you can agonize over for hours.

Today we’re going to take a look at some tips that can get you up and running in under an hour.

1.  Choose something that you have some interest in.  If you hate sushi, the thought of writing 10 articles on the topic may make you feel a little “green” – that means you’re going to avoid it!

2.  Remember you don’t have to be an expert on the topic, with the Internet for research, you’ll probably find more information than you need to write your article.

Example Time:  I write anywhere from 10-20 articles a week on business topics.  Writing 10 more isn’t going to be any more fun for me than it is for you!  So to give myself a break, I’m combining an interest I have that I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time on:  Gardening.

It doesn’t matter what topic you choose from trains to felines to fashion, the goal is to pick a general topic that you can write 10 articles about.

3. Search Keywords for Sub-topics, Each Subtopic will be an article.  To find a list of keywords you can use the Google Adsense Keyword Tool.  Click Here!

Select the descriptive word or phrases button, enter the general topic in the middle section, enter the test word and click Get Keyword Ideas.  There are two sections of keywords to choose from all related to your general topic.

4.  Use your imagination.  Pick 10 sub-topics that you are interested in writing an article about – don’t be afraid to pick sub-topics that aren’t on the list, these are you articles!

5.  Use the Internet for a resource, but be careful that you are not just copying someone else’s article, you want to find your own take on each sub-topic.

Example:  My first sub-topic is Vegetable Garden.  To make it my article, My title is “Your Vegetable Garden a Family Activity” and I am including information that will make it a family-friendly activity.

6.  Plan Your Article before you write.  List out important facts that you don’t want to leave out and any special information that will make the article uniquely your own.

7.  Write your article.  Most articles average between 350 – 700 words your first or “rough” draft should be an outpouring of what you want to say organized into paragraphs.  Refine it in the second draft, correcting spelling and style errors – the first draft is to get the words out.

8.  Formatting for an article is usually up to the writer, but her are some general tips:

  • Center Your Title
  • Don’t Indent for paragraphs
  • Single space with an extra return (enter) at the end of each paragraph
  • Use Headers and bullet points to draw your reader to important information.
  • Don’t enter a byline if you are going to use the article as PLR
  • Type font size should be 12 and in a readable font (I suggest Arial, Verdana or Georgia)

9. One last tip learned from harsh experience – Save Your Document Often!  Power surges, spilled coffee and kicked cords can result in the loss of an entire document if you don’t take the time to save it.

Keep on Writing until you have all 10 articles and you have your First PLR pack ready to go!

Make Money Idea #3

Are you still with me?

So far we’ve broken down two methods of making money on the internet with no cost to you.

Today we’re going to look at another one.

*Disclaimer – I can’t guarantee that you will make money or if you do how much it will be.  Individual results will vary, but since this  advice has no cost and there will be no cost involved with using it, you can try it if you like!

Create PLR Packages

What you need:  A computer with a word program, notepad or .pdf document creator.  An online payment processor (paypal or e-gold, etc.)  A web page creator either W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (What You See Is What You Get) or a HTML editor will work.  A website to upload your product and sales page to.  An auto-responder to capture lead contact information (to keep this no cost, you can sign-up for one free at: www.freeautobot.com

Step 1:  Select a Topic – This can be just about anything, but limit yourself to just one topic.  Example: Gardening, Dieting, etc.)
Step 2: Write 10 articles on this topic.  (The Internet is a great resource for researching your topic.)

Step 3: Bundle them together in a folder.

Step 4: Add a document explaining that all rights are conferred to the purchaser (You can get an idea of what rights to include by downloading a free PLR package – don’t just take theirs, write up your own and save it so you can use it again on future PLR packages.)

Step 5: Compress the folder in a .zip format.  (Winzip has a free 30 day trial that will allow you to download and use their software.)

Step 6: Upload the .zip folder to your website.  (Write down the URL for later use.)

**The next step is deciding what to do with your content.  You can (a) sell it or (b) offer it as a free download in exchange for contact information (to build your mailing list) or (C) both.  It is your choice, but you need to know what option you are going to use before going to step 7.

Step 7: Create a web page to either sell or give away your product.

(a) if you are selling the product, you will need to create a payment button through a payment processor, such as paypal or e-gold.  Remember to enter the URL of the .zip folder as the payment completed redirect page for instant download.  Add the payment button to the web page at the bottom of your sales copy.

(b)if you are giving the product away, add an auto-responder sign-up box to your web page below your sales copy (You still need to list out the benefits that the viewer will receive to get them to complete the sign-up process, you still need to convince your viewer to take action.

(c) if you want to sell your product and capture lead information, place an auto-responder sign-up box on the page (top right corner of the page gets the best results) and the payment button at the bottom of the sales copy.  Have an offer to give viewers a reason to sign-up for your mailing list (an e-mail training course or newsletter – something that will make it worth their time to give you their information).

Step #8: Upload the completed web page to your web site. (Write down the URL for the next step.)

Step #9:  Direct Traffic to your web page.

  • Traffic Exchanges  (Need a List?  Here are our favorites!)
  • Write an Article and have the URL in the author’s resource box.
  • Put the URL in your e-mail and forum signatures.
  • Send the URL as a special offer to your list.
  • Have friends send the URL to their list.

Step #10:  Rinse and Repeat.

Making money doesn’t have to be difficult.

If you write 10 articles on 10 different topics then you can create a hub page with links to each separate offer and just send traffic to one page and let your visitors choose which offers they want to make. (For this you may want to change the payment option to a shopping cart rather than a payment button as it will allow your customers to make purchases throughout your site instead of limiting them to individual item purchases.
